As the festive season approaches and many people wind down, we know that for those receiving care at home, support is needed just the same – 365 days a year.
At CI Home Care, we’re incredibly proud of our Carers and Care Managers who continue to deliver compassionate, professional care throughout Christmas and New Year. Whether it’s regular hourly visits, overnight care, or live-in support, our team remains committed to ensuring that every client feels safe, supported, and cared for – even when the rest of the world seems to pause.
The Same High Standards, Even During the Holidays
While others may take a break, our standards never do. We make sure every visit continues as planned, with the same warmth, professionalism and respect that our clients deserve all year round.
Whether it’s helping someone get ready to see family, preparing a festive meal, or simply offering companionship on Christmas Day, our Carers bring comfort and kindness wherever they go.
Behind the scenes, our experienced Care Managers are still working hard – on-call to support Carers, overseeing rotas and making sure everything runs smoothly. It’s this seamless support that allows us to maintain safe, person-centred care even during the busiest time of year.
Flexibility When You Need It Most
We understand that Christmas is a time when routines often change – family may be visiting, clients may go off-island, or some may want a quieter day with fewer visits.
That’s why we always offer flexibility around care patterns during the festive period.
Clients and families are encouraged to let us know in advance if:
- Visits need to be cancelled, shortened or rescheduled
- Additional support is needed during a family gathering
- Clients will be away from the island for a few days
We’ll always do our best to accommodate these requests while ensuring care is safe and continuous for everyone.
The Gift of Continuity
One of the things our clients value most is consistency – being able to see the same familiar faces, even over Christmas. We work hard to make sure that happens, especially for those who rely on live-in or more complex care. At the same time we look to ensure that our Carers get to have fun too – with most working either Christmas or New Year and taking the most popular times off in rotation.
Our Carers go above and beyond – not just providing physical care, but often helping to create moments of celebration, whether that’s putting up Christmas decorations, heating a mince pie, or simply sharing a festive smile.
Our Own Christmas Celebrations
How do you celebrate when some staff are working morning, noon and night, seven days a week? It’s a tough one but our Christmas “nibbles and giggles” open house when Carers pop in to collect Christmas bonuses and there are gifts for any children is popular! It’s a great opportunity to chat and talk about life outside of care…. albeit the phone doesn’t stop!

Clients’ Christmas Celebrations
Most of our clients are lucky enough to have friends or family on-island; some are not. But we always ensure that none of our clients are alone or without some festive cheer over the holidays. Whether we take clients to community lunches or cook for them at home nobody misses out! We’ve even had carers who cook extra at home and deliver to clients – just one example of our CI Carers going the extra mile which makes us so proud.
